MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049199 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Ramapuram Campus; and Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 17, for 'autonomous weed-zapper drone with ai spectrometry.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This design invention relates to an autonomous agricultural instrument. Traditional weed management relies on blanket herbicide spraying, which leads to chemical resistance, high operational costs, and environmental degradation. It has been proposed to manage weeds by identifying specific species and applying targeted thermal energy to eliminate them without affecting the surrounding soil or crops."
