MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411011275 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 19, 2024, for 'bathing assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bathing assistive device comprises of a pair of telescopic frames 1 having curved ends 2 positioned over a rim portion of a bathtub, a gripping pad 3 for providing support to ends 2 on rim portion, an imaging unit 4 sync with a LiDAR sensor for detecting inner width of bathtub, an extendable rectangular platform 5 utilized by user for attaining a seating posture, an air compressor for filling air within an inflatable unit 6 for providing comfort to user, multiple motorized pop-out balls 12 for translating frames 1 towards user, a laser measurement sensor for detecting dimensions of user's body, an extendable backrest 7 for providing support to user, a computing unit accessed by user for providing input, a temperature sensor for detecting temperature of water, a Peltier unit 8 for maintaining user-specified temperature of water and a level sensor for detecting level of water within bathtub."
