MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517072574 A) filed by Ningde Amperex Technology Limited, Fujian, China, on July 30, for 'battery cell and electric device.'

Inventor(s) include Zhang, Guowen.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A battery cell and an electric device, which relate to the technical field of batteries. The battery cell comprises a case, a terminal post and a pressure relief mechanism, wherein the case comprises a bottom wall and a plurality of side walls surrounding the bottom wall, and a first through hole and a second through hole are provided in a first side wall among the plurality of side walls, the terminal post penetrating the first through hole, and the pressure relief mechanism covering the second through hole. The pressure relief mechanism comprises an adhesive film, which can melt when the temperature of the battery cell reaches a threshold value, so that the pressure in the case is released via the second through hole. The pressure relief mechanism has relatively high reliability of pressure relief due to relatively good thermal sensitivity, thereby improving the safety of the battery cell. In addition, the second through hole and the first through hole in which the terminal post is mounted are both located in the first side wall, so that the pressure relief mechanism can share the space reserved for the terminal post, thereby saving the space of the electric device in which the battery cell is mounted; thus, the structure of the electric device is more compact, and the cost of preparing the pressure relief mechanism is lower."

The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 02, 2023, under International application No.PCT/CN2023/110830.
