MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014268 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'beard shaping assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Seema Rani; Diksha Verma; Naina Jariyal; Preeti Ban; and Afsana.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A beard shaping assistive device, comprising a curved plate 1 that is accessed by a user to position in proximity to face of user, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 for capturing images of user's face for determining dimension of the user's face, a computing unit to display evaluated beard style for allowing user to select a style in which user's beard is to be trimmed, a laser projection unit 3 to guide user to position plate 1 over user's face, plurality of pneumatic rods 4 in order to alter shape of plate 1 in accordance with user-selected style, a hair density sensor to determine hair density of user's beard, a robotic arm 5 to position a motorized trimmer 6 over beard, vacuum unit 9 to withdraw trimmed beard hairs via pipe 7 to collect in chamber 8 linked to the arm."
