MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026115 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'berry plant support device.'

Inventor(s) include Raj Kumar; Navneet Katoch; Anmol Narang; and Sourav.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A berry plant support device, comprising a pair of circular extendable bodies 1 connected with plurality of telescopically operated links 2 to be accommodated around a berry plant, plurality of telescopically operated rods 3 for provide support to the bodies 1 on a ground surface, a user-interface for enabling a user to give input commands for providing support to berries grown on the plants, an imaging unit 4 detects height of the berries, a drawer arrangement 5 for expanding/retracting the bodies 1 for accurately accommodating the plant, plurality of flaps 6 configured with one of the bodies 1 via plurality of motorized hinges 7 for tilting and deploying the flaps 6 in view of preventing falling of the berries on the ground surface and a telescopically operated gripper 8 to pluck rotten berries and discard the berry on the ground surface to prevent any damage to other berries."
