MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123230 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'bert-based fake news detection system with scalable real-time chatbot.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Priya G; and Mr. Venkataranganathan. A. V.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a fake news detection system including a data preprocessing module configured to receive textual news content and perform tokenization, stop-word removal, and text normalization operations, a BERT-based language model fine-tuned for fake news classification configured to process the preprocessed content and generate contextualized embeddings, an explainable artificial intelligence module configured to generate interpretability information by computing token-level contribution scores that quantify individual word contributions to classification decisions, a real-time user interface module configured to receive user inputs and provide classification results indicating whether news content is authentic or fabricated, and an integration architecture connecting these modules to enable end-to-end fake news detection. The system processes input through sequential stages including preprocessing, tokenization, BERT model processing, training, prediction, evaluation, deployment, and chatbot integration for scalable real-time verification."
