MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010804 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'bicycle locking device.'
Inventor(s) include Alka Verma; and Arun Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bicycle locking device, comprises of a bicycle 1 including a frame 2, a pair of wheels 3, seat post 4, brake shoes 5, and handles 6, a shaft 7 configured with the frame 2 and segregated into a pair of sections, a pair of hinges 8 for tilting of the sections towards/away from each other in view of attaching/detaching the sections, an electromagnet 9 configured with each of the second ends for detaching the sections to tilt the sections away from each other to position the sections across an object with which the bicycle 1 is to be locked, and a telescopically operated link 11 installed within one of the holes 10 to extend and engage in a slot carved on the seat post 4 to lock the seat post 4 with the sections, thereby securing the bicycle 1 with the object."
