MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411011283 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 19, 2024, for 'bicycle pedaling and locking assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Alka Verma; and Shreshta Bandhu Rastogi.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bicycle pedaling and locking assistive device, comprising a first and second bodies 1, 2 installed with a crank arm of a bicycle, a disc 3 is installed with each of bodies 1, 2 via a link 4 that is to be inserted within a hole carved on crank arm, an ultrasonic sensor positioned on each of discs 3 for detecting diameter of hole, an expandable pulley arrangement 5 to fix disc 3 within hole, an inflatable unit 6 equipped with each of bodies 1, 2 for inflating units 6, a pneumatic link 7 configured with first body 1 to extend towards slot 8 carved on second body 2, a motorized hinge 9 configured between link 7 and member 10 for deploying member 10 for engaging member 10 within slot 8 and a fingerprint sensor for enabling user to give fingerprints for unlocking bicycle."
