MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050062 A) filed by MLR Institute Of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on April 20, for 'bidirectional power converter for electric vehicle with battery charging and smart battery management system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. B V Rajanna; Mr. M Sreenivasa Reddy; Ms. T Mrudula; and Mr. K. Giri Prakash.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention introduces an intelligent bidirectional power converter system integrated with a smart battery management unit (BMS) for electric vehicles. Designed to optimize energy flow, the system operates in both boost and buck modes, enabling efficient acceleration and regenerative braking. A microcontroller monitors and controls key parameters such as battery voltage, temperature, and state of charge (SOC) in real time, ensuring maximum battery protection and operational efficiency. The system automatically triggers battery charging through a relay mechanism when voltage drops below a preset level and activates a cooling fan when temperature thresholds are exceeded. An LCD interface provides live updates on system performance, while an EMI filter ensures stable operation by minimizing electrical interference. Through dynamic power control and continuous battery monitoring, the invention extends battery lifespan, enhances vehicle performance, and supports reliable, sustainable electric mobility solutions."
