MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431022174 A) filed by Tata Steel Limited, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on March 22, 2024, for 'binder composition, pellet mix composition and method for preparation of iron ore pellet.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a binder composition (212), a pellet mix composition (220), and a method (300) for preparation of an iron ore pellet (226). The binder composition (212) for pelletizing material includes bentonite, sodium hydroxide, and sodium sulphate. The pellet mix composition (220) includes iron ore fines, limestone, the binder composition, pyroxenite, and coal. The method (300) includes blending (302) the iron ore fines, the limestone, the binder composition (212), the coal and the pyroxenite to obtain the pellet mix composition (220). The method (300) further includes adding (304) solvent to the pellet mix composition to obtain a homogeneous mixture of the pellet mix composition (220). The method (300) further includes subjecting (306) the homogeneous mixture of the pellet mix composition (220) to pelletization for obtaining a green pellet (224). The method (300) further includes subjecting (308) the green pellet (224) to firing for obtaining the iron ore pellet (226)."
