MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517073580 A) filed by Torrec Technology Oy, Kuopio, Finland, on Aug. 1, for 'biochar reactor.'
Inventor(s) include Sonninen, Heikki.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The application relates to a biochar reactor (100) for producing biochar (BC). The biochar reactor comprises a horizontal reactor chamber (102), a receiver (104) for receiving (472) biomass (BM) to the biochar reactor, a pyrolyser (108) for pyrolysing (480) the received biomass to produce the biochar, a cooler (114) for cooling (488) the produced biochar, and a controller (346) for controlling the biochar reactor. The pyrolyser comprises at least one pyrolyser section (110) so that each pyrolyser section (110) is configured to pyrolyse the biomass by using a unique section-typical temperature range. The biochar reactor is configured to cause heat gas (HG) to flow through each pyrolyser section (110) to pyrolyse the biomass in a process temperature (T1, T2) within the section-typical temperature range in said pyrolyser section (110)."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 29, 2023, under International application No.PCT/FI2023/050747.
