MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517066556 A) filed by Basf Se, Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany, on July 11, for 'biodegradable graft polymers for dye transfer inhibition.'
Inventor(s) include Weiss, Thomas; De, Swati; Schoen, Florian; and Mueller, Jan Ole.
The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Graft polymers, their preparation and use such as in cleaning compositions, wherein the graft polymers comprise as polymer backbone (A) a polyalkylene oxide ester polymer with a weight average molecular weight Mw of 500 to 50 000 g/mol, comprising 10 to 560 ether groups and 2 to 51 ester groups, which are interconnected with alkylene groups, which is significantly better biodegradable than conventional polyalkylene oxide polymers, and polymeric side chains grafted onto the polymer backbone A, wherein said polymeric sidechains (B) are obtainable by co-polymerization of at least one monomer selected from (B1), and (B2), with the monomers (B1) being at least one vinyl ester monomer, (B2) with (B2a) and optionally (B2b), with (B2a) at least one olefinically unsaturated amine-containing monomer, preferably being 1-vinylimidazole or its derivatives, and optional (B2b) at least one further nitrogen-containing monomer, being preferably a vinyllactame-monomer. The graft polymer is preferably employed as dye transfer inhibitor, more preferably in laundry compositions."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 08, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/084826.
