MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060876 A) filed by Akshaya College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on June 25, for 'biomass briquette machine.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. O. Sathish; Mr. S. Hari Prasath; Mr. U. Harish; Mr. S. Madhan Kumar; and Mr. I. Natarajamani.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed invention is a manually operated biomass briquette machine designed to convert agricultural and organic waste into solid fuel briquettes without electricity. The machine features a vertically mounted hydraulic bottle jack on a mild steel frame to compress biomass materials such as rice husks, sawdust, and paper waste into dense, uniform briquettes suitable for domestic and small-scale industrial fuel needs. A perforated cylindrical mold allows for moisture escape, while a spring-loaded return system resets the pressing head automatically after each cycle. Interchangeable molds permit briquette customization, and a manual ejector simplifies removal. The non-electric, compact design ensures usability in rural and off-grid areas, supporting energy independence and sustainable waste management. The briquettes burn longer and cleaner than raw biomass, reducing environmental impact and promoting health. This innovation enables low-cost renewable energy production, empowers rural micro-enterprises, and contributes to circular economy goals through waste-to-wealth transformation."
