MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517053899 A) filed by Alkahest, Inc; and Grifols Worldwide Operations Limited, San Carlos, U.S.A., on June 4, for 'blood plasma fractions for improvement of myelination.'
Inventor(s) include Bell, David; Braithwaite, Steven P; Dang, Vu; Gallager, Ian; Mccracken, Joe; Minami, S. Sakura; Nikolich, Karoly; and Sin, Jung Hyung.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods and compositions for restoring myelin levels in conditions associated with myelin degeneration, for example, an aging and aging-related neurodegenerative and/or neuroinflammatory disease or a myelopathy associated with postoperative recovery. The compositions used in the methods include blood plasma and blood plasma fractions derived from blood plasma with efficacy in restoring myelin levels and/or improving nerve conductance."
The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 20, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/035633.
