MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531019826 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on March 5, for 'boat paddle grip cover device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Rashmi Ray.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A boat paddle grip cover device, comprising a pair of plates 101 having U-shaped cross-section and incorporated with plurality of hinges connected with one another by means of pneumatic rod for covering of boat paddle surface, plurality of suction units 102 for affixing onto surface of the paddle, plurality of motorized pop-out balls 103 for translation of the plates along a length of the paddle, inflatable cushions connected with an inflation unit for enabling comfortable grip onto the paddle and an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 104 in synchronization with proximity sensor to determine presence of the paddle near the plates 101 and a gripping region of the paddle to trigger microcontroller to actuate the hinges to wrap the plates around gripping region of the paddle, the pop-out balls 103 to position the plates 101 accurately over the gripping region and the suction units to affix the plates with the paddle."
