MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024871 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'book management device for book shelf.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A book management device for book shelf, comprising of a platform 1 developed to be installed at a top portion of a book shelf placed with multiple books, a touch enabled screen to give input commands regarding name of one of the books required by the user, an imaging unit 4 for detecting exact location of the user's defined book, a telescopically operated gripper 8 for translating and positioning the gripper 8 in proximity to the book and actuates the gripper 8 for gripping and placing the book on a tray attached with the platform 1, an L-shaped telescopically operated rod 7 installed with the platform 1 and attached with a first vertical platform 2 for positioning the platforms within the shelf, and an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) module 5 for detecting name of the books placed in the shelf."
