MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621007082 A) filed by Mgm Institute Of Health Sciences, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, on Jan. 23, for 'breast crawl guard.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sindhu Thomas; and Dr. Nimain Mohanty.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A breast crawl guard device for facilitating safe initiation of breastfeeding in new-borns immediately post-delivery, comprising of a pair of side bars, each having a height of approximately 12.5 inches and a width of approximately 14.5 inches, constructed from acrylic material with a thickness of approximately 8 mm; and a support bar having a height of approximately 6.7 inches and a width of approximately 14.5 inches, also constructed from said acrylic material; wherein said side bars and support bar are configured to assemble into a rectangular enclosure positioned on a mother's abdomen around a new-born, providing protection against falls while permitting instinctive breast crawl movements toward the nipple; and wherein said device is compatible with hospital infection control protocols including washing and disinfection."
