MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025988 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'bucket lifting assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bucket lifting assistive device comprises a cylindrical body 1 configured with a pair of semi-cylindrical plates 2 accessed by a user to align the plates over a handle of a commodity that is to lifted, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 installed over the body determines shape of the handle based on which the microcontroller actuates plurality of secondary motorized hinge joints installed in each of the plates to regulate shape of the plates, a proximity sensor monitors distance of the handle from the plates, a pair of motorized grippers 5 installed over the body each by means of a L-shaped telescopic rod 6 to position the grippers over the handle, and an extendable flap 7 is installed over the body by means of an inverted L-shaped telescopic bar 8 to position the flap in between the bucket and user's body."
