MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067947 A) filed by Vigmed Ab, Helsingborg, Sweden, on July 16, for 'catheter system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a closed IV catheter system extending in a distal-proximal direction along a central axis (A). The catheter system (10) comprises a catheter hub (100) having a tubular catheter (101) attached to a catheter hub body (102) at its proximal end, and a catheter hub cavity (103) in fluid communication with a lumen of the tubular catheter (101), and a tube connector (104) in fluid communication with the catheter hub cavity (103). The tube connector (104) extends laterally from the catheter hub body (102). The catheter system (10) further comprises a septum (106) having a distal end (116) and a proximal end (126), and being arranged inside the catheter hub cavity (103) proximally of the tube connector (104). The septum (106) comprises a socket (107) extending towards the central axis (A) in the distal-proximal direction between the distal end (116) and the proximal end (126), and the distal end (116) of the septum (106) extends distally past a waist (109) arranged on an internal surface of the catheter hub cavity (103)."
