MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311082838 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on Dec. 5, 2023, for 'cationic softener product, process of synthesis thereof, and method of treating a textile therefrom.'

Inventor(s) include Sheikh, Javed Nabibaksha; Audichya, Ashish; and Singh, Ankit Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a cationic softener. The present disclosure also provides a method of synthesis of cationic softener. The present disclosure also provides a method of treating a textile with the cationic softener to obtain a multifunctional textile. The cationic softener of present application is efficient to impart mosquito repellent and antibacterial protection to textiles. The multifunctional textiles obtained after treating the textile with the cationic softener are wash-durable and have mosquito repellent and antibacterial functionalities."
