MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060647 A) filed by Sabu K Varghese, Thrissur, Kerala, on June 25, for 'cavity interconnected concrete lock blocks to aid passive cooling of the wall.'
Inventor(s) include Sabu K Varghese.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Cavity Interconnected Concrete Lock Blocks to Aid Passive Cooling of the Wall, a modular, load-bearing concrete block with vertically and horizontally interconnected cavities that enhance passive airflow and thermal regulation within wall assemblies. Desi~::ned for ener!:,'Yefl: icient construction, the block combines high compressive strength (> 15 MPa), seismic groove interlocks, and low water absorption (<3%) in a lightweight form (1660-1700 kg!m'). The block's unique structure supports natural cooling, reduces material usage, and facilitates sustainable production. Mortar retention pools ensure better adhesion, while optional reinforcement bar integration and textured surfaces offer both structural and aestlu:lic benefits. This invention addresses the limitations of conventional masonry units by unifYing ventilation, seismic resistance, and eco-friendly manufacturing in a single, multifunctional concrete masonry unit."
