MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086503 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, on Dec. 18, 2023, for 'chitosan-alginate-zinc artificial skin construct.'
Inventor(s) include Manuja, Anju; Kumar, Balvinder; and Joshi, Meghnad G.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a three-dimensional artificial skin construct for faster wound healing and skin regeneration. The three-dimensional artificial skin construct comprises a composite or blend of chitosan-alginate-zinc oxide particles (Cs-Alg-ZnO NPs). The composite comprises chitosan-alginate-zinc oxide nanoparticles in a ratio of 2:5:1.5 and is present in 0.5-2% concentration in the skin construct as a coated artificial skin scaffold for wound healing and skin regeneration. The blend of chitosan-alginate and zinc oxide particles on the other hand is provided as bioink composition for development of an artificial skin construct having zinc oxide particles. The present Cs-Alg-ZnO particle artificial skin, showed highest content of hydroxyproline and collagen as compared to an individual artificial skin construct. The healing rate of wound was fast for the present Cs-Alg-ZnO particle artificial skin, as compared to individual artificial skin construct and CsZnO particles."
