MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010383 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'coconut kernel extraction device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Saurabh Chaitanya; Adarsh Kumar Keshari; Amir Raja Khan; and Vishal Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A coconut kernel extraction device comprises of, a platform 1 configured with a platform 1 for storing multiple coconuts in a sequential manner, a touch enabled screen 3 to give input commands for extracting coconut kernel balls from the coconuts, multiple ultrasonic sensors for detecting thickness of kernel in each of the coconuts, a telescopically operated gripper 4 for gripping and positioning the coconut, a pair of C-shaped extendable members 5 to extend/retract, an artificial intelligence-enabled imaging unit 6 to detect dimensions of the coconut, a pair of L-shaped telescopically operated links 7 to extend for gripping the coconut with the members 5, a primary robotic arm 8 equipped with a cutter 9 for cutting a top portion of the coconut to expose the kernel of the coconut, and a pair of motorized sliders 11 for translating and positioning the frame 10 over the coconut."
