MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517060704 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings Sas, Paris, on June 25, for 'combination of intra template prediction and intra block copy with other coding tools.'
Inventor(s) include Naser Karam; Bordes Philippe; Reuze Kevin; and Galpin Franck.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Systems methods and instrumentalities are disclosed herein for the field of video compression. In examples a video decoder or video encoder may obtain a first prediction signal for a current block using a block vector based intra prediction mode (e.g. intra template prediction (intraTMP) mode or an intra block copy (IBC) mode). A second prediction signal may be obtained for the current block using a second prediction mode. A prediction block may be generated by weighing the first prediction signal using the first prediction mode and the second prediction signal using the second intra prediction mode. The current block may be decoded or encoded based on the prediction block."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 18, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/086311.
