MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517057760 A) filed by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., Guangdong, China, on June 16, for 'communication method and apparatus.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed in the embodiments of the present application are a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: determining whether the behavior of the current handover execution is a first behavior, wherein the first behavior comprises a radio link control (RLC) protocol being maintained and a medium access control (MAC) protocol being reset or partially reset; and when it is determined that the behavior of the current handover execution is the first behavior, sending an RLC status report to a second device, wherein the RLC status report is used for indicating the reception of a data packet. By means of the embodiments of the present application, the timeliness of transmission of an RLC status report can be improved, so as to ensure the continuity of service transmission during a handover, thereby improving the transmission efficiency of data."
