According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This article examines the theoretical bases and classroom implications of communicative approaches in language teaching and traces their development over the wider history of language teaching. It examines the main approaches and methods developed during the twentieth century and highlights how theories of language learning, language acquisition and communication skills shaped teaching practices. The debate highlights the shift from grammatical and precision-oriented approaches to approaches that prioritise meaningful communication, learner interaction and functional use of language. Particular attention shall be paid to the role of materials, classroom activities and work-based techniques in promoting a communicative learning environment. The article also highlights the importance of the natural approach in promoting understandable input and learner-centred learning. It also stresses the importance of developing personalised learning approaches, whereby teachers adapt existing methods to their beliefs, experience, classroom environment and learners' needs. The study also reinforces the need for continuous teacher development and flexible teaching approaches to increase the effectiveness of second language and foreign language learning."
