MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123026 A) filed by Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'compact uwb mimo antenna with ebg structures for enhanced isolation.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Rajeshkumar V; Nithish G; Pranit D R; and Nithish Roshan S.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a compact ultra-wideband multiple-input multiple-output antenna system comprising a dielectric substrate (20) having a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface, four radiating patch elements (22) disposed on the first surface of the dielectric substrate (20) and arranged in a 2 2 configuration, a swastika-shaped electromagnetic bandgap structure positioned centrally between the four radiating patch elements (22), and a plurality of square-shaped electromagnetic bandgap elements distributed across the dielectric substrate (20), wherein each square-shaped electromagnetic bandgap element comprises a square conductive patch with a circular slot at the center. The antenna system operates across an ultra-wideband frequency range of 2.9 GHz to 12.6 GHz with isolation between antenna ports exceeding -21.5 dB."
