MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641022504 A) filed by Sika's Healthy Day Foods Llp, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Feb. 25, for 'composite wheat and multi-millet flour composition and process for preparation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Bindu Madhuri Somavarapu; and Kavitha Sriramineni.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to nutritionally enhanced composite flour comprising 70% wheat flour and 30% millet flour fractions in optimized proportions. The millet fraction includes Sorghum, Pearl millet, Finger millet, Foxtail millet, Little millet, Kodo millet, and Barnyard millet in defined percentages. The formulation preserves a continuous gluten matrix from wheat while incorporating fiber- and micronutrient-rich millet fractions, thereby producing cohesive and elastic dough suitable for soft and puffable flatbreads. The invention further provides a method involving pre-cleaning, washing, soaking of millets, controlled drying to 10-12% moisture, milling to specified mesh sizes, blending in precise proportions, sieving, and airtight packaging. The composite flour offers improved nutritional value, enhanced digestibility, functional performance comparable to conventional wheat flour, and improved storage stability."
