MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411013315 A) filed by Dr. Mohammad Rashid Alvi, New Delhi, on Feb. 23, 2024, for 'composition and method for the preparation of toothpaste having salvestrol compound.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is in the field of Oral health care products, more particularly a toothpaste formulation with anti-cancer properties in it. In general, the extraction of salvestrol from plants involves obtaining the compound from the plant material, often using methods such as solvent extraction or supercritical fluid extraction. Once extracted, the salvestrol may undergo further purification steps to remove impurities and isolate the active compound which is about 3 % by weight in the noble composition. Another important novel ingredient is Commiphora gileadensis, which is present in a concentration of 0.5 % by weight, having anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancerous properties. The noble composition contains 26 essential ingredients which gives complete oral care and assists in treatment and prevention of diseases related to the oral cavity including anti-cancer properties in it. The composition further comprising of four major stages during its marination preparation. This invention provides a composition and method for the preparation of toothpaste having salvestrol compound with other specified ingredients which gives relief from various oral diseases/problems including anti-cancer properties in it and provides a simple, safe, cost-effective, and easy to manufacture toothpaste composition."
