MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517094288 A) filed by Kuraray Co. Ltd., Okayama, Japan, on Sept. 30, for 'composition comprising vinyl alcohol-based polymer, and method for separating vinyl alcohol-based polymer.'

Inventor(s) include Seki Michinari; Imaoka Yoriko; and Okamoto Yuji.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a composition comprising a vinyl alcohol-based polymer, the composition being homogenous when formed into an aqueous solution, and the vinyl alcohol-based polymer contained in the aqueous solution being easily separated therefrom. The composition comprises: a vinyl alcohol-based polymer (A) having a peak top retention time RT of 22 minutes or longer as measured by reversed-phase partition gradient high-performance liquid chromatography using a water-ethanol eluent; and a compound (B), the compound (B) being represented by formula (1). In formula (1), X represents an oxygen atom or the like. Y represents an atomic group having 1-10 carbon atoms. Z represents one type selected from a carboxyl group, a sulfo group, a phosphate group, salts thereof, and anions thereof. R1 represents an acyl group or a hydrocarbon group."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 29, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/007544.
