MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012828 A) filed by National Institute Of Pharmaceutical Education And Research, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'composition for management of rheumatoid arthritis.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a composition for management of rheumatoid arthritis, wherein the composition comprising an effective amount of etodolac combined with Choline and Geranate (CAGE), and 0.5 %w/v to 2 %w/v of a gelling agent. The composition of present invention is formulated as a transdermal Ionogel. The developed transdermal Ionogel provides sustained release profile of the drug which helps to reduce the dose related side effects and systemic toxicity. Significant improvement of topical and dermal bioavailability owing to increased permeation of drug through the stratum corneum and viable layer was achieved as compared to free drug. Further, the formulation also depicted higher efficacy in collagen induced arthritis (CIA) induced rheumatoid arthritis model in female wistar rats as compared to free drug gel."
