MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641024366 A) filed by Sastra Deemed University; and All India Metal Corporation, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, on March 1, for 'compositions for fabricating a scaffold for regenerative applications.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Compositions for fabricating a scaffold for regenerative applications are disclosed. Said compositions broadly comprise: copper-based metal-organic frameworks; a nano hydroxyapatite or a micro hydroxyapatite; and a polyvinyl alcohol binding solution or a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose binding solution. Said copper-based metal-organic frameworks and said nano hydroxyapatite are in a weight ratio that ranges between about 1:39 and about 1:199, or said micro hydroxyapatite and said copper-based metal-organic frameworks are in a weight ratio that ranges between about 55:1 and about 110:1. Concentration of said polyvinyl alcohol binding solution or said hydroxypropyl methylcellulose binding solution is about 2%. The disclosed compositions for fabricating a scaffold (and/or scaffolds thereof) offer at least the following advantages: is non-toxic; is cytocompatible; improved mechanical properties; and/or improved cell viability and proliferation, indicating suitability, for regenerative applications."
