According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Compositions for fabricating a scaffold for tissue engineering applications are disclosed. In one embodiment, said compositions broadly comprise: magnesium-doped nano hydroxyapatite; bentonite; and a polyvinyl alcohol binding solution. In another embodiment, said compositions broadly comprise: nano hydroxyapatite or a micro hydroxyapatite; bentonite; and a polyvinyl alcohol binding solution or a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose binding solution. The disclosed compositions for fabricating a scaffold (and/or scaffolds thereof) offer at least the following synergistic advantages and effects: is cytocompatible; improved mechanical properties; superior biological integration; improved load-bearing capabilities; and/or improved cell viability and proliferation, indicating suitability, for tissue engineering applications."
