MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514024204 A) filed by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Shizuoka, Japan, on March 18, for 'control apparatus for vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Watanabe, Kazushi.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "When there is a risk of the vehicle colliding with a forward obstacle, braking force is generated by automatic braking. During deceleration due to the automatic braking, a rear-end collision determination value DEC that indicates the risk of the following vehicle rear-ending the vehicle is calculated, and based on comparison between the rear-end collision determination value DEC and a predetermined determination threshold Dth1, it is determined whether there is a risk of rear-end collision with the following vehicle or not. When it is determined that there is a risk of rear-end collision with the following vehicle, deceleration of the vehicle due to the automatic braking is restricted. The weight data of the following vehicle is obtained through communication between the vehicle and the following vehicle, and the determination threshold Dth1 is variably set according to the following vehicle weight indicated by the weight data (Dth11, Dth12)."
