MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020655 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'controlled candle holding device.'

Inventor(s) include Dhruv Joshi; Jitendra Kumar Singh Jadon; Neha Yajurvedi; and Abhishek Dabas.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A controlled candle holding device comprising a circular platform 1 developed to be installed on a fixed surface, multiple suction cups 2 to affix platform 1 on surface, an expandable pulley arrangement 3 configured with multiple curved shaped flaps 4 for expanding and compressing for gripping placed candle, a display panel 5 to select an operation, a robotic link 6 configured with an electric lighter 7 for positioning lighter 7 in vicinity to wick of candle, a rotatable disc 8 via an inverted L-shaped bar 9 for positioning a hemi-spherical member 10 over ignited wick in order to extinguish candle, an imaging unit 11 to determine quantity of residue, a motorized sliding unit 12 for providing movement to a plate 13 for translating residues towards a waste collecting chamber, motorized roller 14 to unwind an optimum length of wick, a motorized cutter 15 for cutting wick."
