MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311083990 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 8, 2023, for 'convertible resting assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Vikas Kaushik; Sarabjeet Singh; and Pradeep Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A convertible resting assistive device a frame 1 having plates 2 each configured with multiple rods 3 for support over ground, a wheel 4 attached with each rod for maneuvering frame 1, a microphone 5 for receiving user's voice input regarding a desired mode of operation, in case of seating operation, two hinge joints 6 integrated between plates 2 provides a U-shaped structure to frame 1 followed by deployment of hinged plank 7 that allows user to attain sitting posture, an imaging-unit 8 to determine user's height and accordingly rods 3 extends/retracts to position plank 7 at optimum height, harness 9 crafted with cushioned member for enabling user to comfortably carry frame 1 on shoulder, a FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensor mapped on harness 9 for detecting user's vital health parameters, in case of abnormal parameters, speaker 10 generates voice commands to notify user to consult a medical practitioner."
