MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050093 A) filed by Vignan's Institute Of Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on April 20, for 'convertible roof system for two-wheeler.'

Inventor(s) include G Santhoshi Kumari; E Basavaraju Simhadri; Narendra Rao Kakade; Gali Lakshmana; N. Pavan Yaswanth; and Chaitali Ganguly.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention brings a smart convertible roof system to everyday two-wheelers that lets riders stay dry and cool no matter what the weather throws at them. The setup uses a light frame built from aluminium tubes and stainless-steel joints, topped with a clear polycarbonate panel that snaps into place for full cover or folds flat in seconds when the sun comes out. A clever dual-pillar base spreads the weight evenly and keeps the roof rock-steady even when the bike is speeding down the road. Riders simply pull a handle to raise or lower the roof, turning their open ride into a protected one without any tools or fuss. The whole thing adds almost no extra weight, fits most scooters and motorcycles, and makes daily travel safer and far more comfortable for students, delivery workers, and city commuters alike."
