MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087707 A) filed by Jain, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'cup handling assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A cup handling assistive device, comprising a ring-shaped body 1 accommodated around a cup, a handle 2 carved with a set of holes 3 are attached with body 1 that are to be inserted with user's finger, a camera 4 detecting diameter of cup, based on which microcontroller actuates a primary iris lid 5 for gripping cup within body 1 in a secured manner, a laser acuity sensor detecting diameter of user's fingers for actuating a secondary iris lid 6 for gripping user's fingers in a secured manner, a motorized ball and socket joint 9 installed between member 7 and rod 8 for deploying and positioning a semicircular member 7 underneath cup in order to prevent any chances of spillage of liquid leaking from cup, and a telescopically operated bar 10 configured with multiple flaps 11 for covering mouth portion of cup."
