MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123259 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'deep learning system for breast cancer recurrence prediction using medical imaging data.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Ayyasamy; and Ravula Akshit Janardhan.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system for breast cancer recurrence prediction. The system includes a data acquisition module configured to receive DICOM format magnetic resonance imaging files containing breast tissue images and associated metadata, an image preprocessing module configured to process the DICOM imaging data into a format suitable for neural network input, a convolutional neural network module configured for binary classification to distinguish between recurrence and non-recurrence cases, and an output module configured to generate recurrence predictions based on analysis by the convolutional neural network module. The image preprocessing module normalizes pixel intensities to 0-1 range and resizes images to 224 224 pixels. The convolutional neural network module includes multiple convolutional layers with ReLU activation functions, max pooling layers for spatial reduction, dropout layers for regularization, and dense layers terminating in sigmoid activation."
