MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517046265 A) filed by Alshamsi, Dr Mahra Mohamed, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, on May 14, for 'dental imaging devices.'
Inventor(s) include Alshamsi, Dr Mahra Mohamed; Renfrew, Bruce; Williamson, William; and Langford, Tobie.
The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable, hand-held, dental imaging device (1) is described. The device comprises a digital camera movable by an actuator along a track or path and configured to capture a plurality of digital images of one of the upper and lower sets of teeth and gums of a user when the device is placed adjacent the mouth of the user. Each first digital image is captured from a different point along the track or path. The digital images are subsequently processed to generate a three-dimensional image of the upper or lower set of teeth and gums."
The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 18, 2023, under International application No.PCT/GB2023/052699.
