MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123156 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'design and fabrication of novel portable dip coating machine.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. C. Uthirapathy; Dr. A. Mathivanan; Dr. S. D. Kumar; Mr. N. Manikandan; D. Tamileraivan; K. Bhuvaneshwar; M. Vasanthraj; and M. Vinoth Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Portable Dip Coating Machine project aims to design and build a tiny, fully automated device that evenly coats a variety of surfaces. The dip-coating approach is utilized in thin-film deposition, polymer coating, and surface finishing, however most equipment is bulky and expensive. This research aims to create a low-cost, easy-to-use, portable alternative for labs and small scales. An Arduino Uno microcontroller controls a DC motor that moves the system up and down via a lead screw. Push controls control the number of coating cycles and dwell time, while an LCD monitor displays machine information. Additional components include limit switches, relay modules, and a buzzer assure system security and efficiency. Autodesk Inventor was used to construct a compact, accurate, and steady machine. Using mechanical and electronic components, a production process automates immersion and withdrawal. The testing showed that the approach-maintained coating thickness and surface smoothness."
