According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for automated assessment of near vision testing or linear distance measurement capability of human eyes, comprising a foldable royal air force (RAF) convergence accommodation ruler 101 with a distance determination unit mounted on a slidable drum 102 of the ruler 101, the distance determination unit corresponds to a depth determination camera 103 employing a telephoto lens that captures images of the patient's eyes and the drum 102 and detects distance traversed by the drum 102, a microphone 104 and a speaker 105 are mounted on a distal end of the ruler 101, the speaker 105 being configured to prompt the patient to confirm blurring or convergence and the microphone 104 enabling the patient to provide spoken confirmation, a processing unit 106 embedded with artificial intelligence (AI) protocols, integrated in the ruler 101, is operatively coupled to the distance determination unit and the speaker 105."
