MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321086921 A) filed by Hameed, Abdul Samad Abdul, Maharashtra, on Dec. 19, 2023, for 'devices and methods for microencapsulation.'

Inventor(s) include Hameed, Abdul Samad Abdul; Patankar, Sandeep Prakash; Shinde, Ujwala A.; Shinde, Vijaya Dattatraya; Satpute, Snehal Rajendra; Parit, Utkarsha Bajirao; Mahadik, Ujjwala Ananda; and Narayankar, Aishwarya Chandrakant.

The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Microencapsulation, a process of entrapment of material in polymeric microcapsules, has been used for diverse purposes, such as increasing shelf-life of labile biological materials, increasing bioavailability of nutrients and enhancing nutrient and drug efficacy. Currently, apparatus available in microencapsulation are either very basic laboratory- scale, or intensely mechanized, complex and expensive, rendering commercial scale microencapsulation unfeasible. The present disclosure describes simple-to-operate, energy-efficient and cost-effective microencapsulation apparatus assemblies, scalable to commercial operations, suitable for dehydrating colloidal liquids to granular forms, and techniques for encapsulating colloidal form nutrients and drugs to enable their safe and unaltered sojourn from hostile rumen / gastro-intestinal environment. Devices, assemblies, methods, and compositions according to the present disclosure may be used to microencapsulate and dehydrate solids present in colloidal fluids, such as, colostrum, milk, blood, and other biological fluids. The proposed device and methods can also be extended to microencapsulate labile nutrients and drugs for increasing their bioavailability."
