MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010807 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'door locking/unlocking assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Rahul Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A door locking/unlocking assistive device includes a plate 1 fixed at bottom portion of door via multiple suction cups 2, a link 3 having a first end 4 attached on apex of plate 1 via a primary pivot joint 6 and second end 5 is accommodated on an extendable supporting-unit 7 that is affixed by user over a ground surface via a suction unit 8 for supporting plate 1 on door, an ultrasonic sensor for determining door clearance, a member 9 integrated on supporting-unit 7 and engaged with gear 10 rotates in clockwise direction to further rotate member 9 for lifting first end 4 for tightening plate 1 against door, a communication module for establishing wireless connection between microcontroller and computing unit accessed by user for opening door, based on which microcontroller directs worm gear 10 to rotate for moving screw 11 in a downward direction for opening of door."
