MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010378 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'door opening and closing assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Prof. Tarun Singhal; Dr. Deepak Dadwal; and Raushan Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A door opening and closing assistive device comprising, a U-shaped frame 1 accessed by a user to position the frame 1 beneath bottom rail of a door, plurality of suction units 2 over inner periphery of frame 1 to affix frame 1 with door, an imaging unit 3 for determine dimensions of door, a motorized drawer arrangement 4 for providing extension to frame 1, a microphone 5 to receive voice commands regarding requirement of opening and closing of door, plurality of motorized pop out balls 6 for providing translation to frame 1over bottom rail, a suction cup 7 with telescopic rod 8 to extend for positioning suction cup 7 over wall in proximity for adhering cup with wall, plurality of proximity sensors to monitor presence of obstacle in path of door while opening and closing of door and a robotic gripper 11 to grip obstacle for removing."
