MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411019147 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 15, 2024, for 'drill bit sharpening assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Sunil Kumar Gaur.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A drill bit sharpening assistive device, comprises of a platform 1 installed with a curved-shaped extendable member 2 developed to accommodate a drill bit that is to be sharpened, a microphone 3 for enabling a user to give voice commands, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 for capturing multiple images of the machine, a motorized clamp 5 for securing the platform 1 with the machine, a telescopically operated pusher 6 for positioning the drill bit in contact with grinding wheel of machine, a motorized pinion gear 7 meshed with teeth carved on a rack attached with the first portion of the member 2 for translating the member 2, a hinge 8 for providing to-and-fro motion to the second portion of the member 2, a speaker 9 to notify the user regarding successful sharpening of the drill bit."
