MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024013 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 26, 2024, for 'drilling assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A drilling assistive device comprises of a platform 1 positioned over a fixed surface to position a workpiece to be drilled, a temperature sensor is installed over the platform 1 to monitor temperature of the workpiece, a water reservoir 10 arranged over the platform 1 and configured with a nozzle 11 to dispense water over the workpiece, multiple suction units 13 to affix the platform 1 with the surface, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 2 to determine dimensions of the workpiece, a motorized drawer arrangement 3 to extend in a manner to accommodate the workpiece over the platform 1, multiple lead screw arrangements 4 to provide translation to a motorized V-shaped gripper 5 for gripping the workpiece in a secured manner, and a speaker 12 to alert the user regrading receded distance for preventing chances of any accident."
