Intellectual Property India Publishes Patent Application for 'Drilling System And Method Of Operating A Drilling System' Filed by Mhwirth AS

MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517055076 A) filed by Mhwirth AS, Kristiansand, Norway, on June 7, for 'drilling system and method of operating a drilling system.'

Inventor(s) include Mydland, Petter; and Nyjordet, Erland.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A drilling system comprising: a hoisting system (1) operable to hold and suspend a tubular string (10) through an opening (15) in a drill floor (14); a slips arrangement (7), the slips arrangement (7) comprising a body (9) positioned in the opening (15) and at least one wedge-shaped slips member (3a,b) movable within the body (9) and operable to engage the tubular string (10); and a sensor (8) configured to monitor the vertical position of the body (9) of the slips arrangement (7) relative to the drill floor (14). There is also provided a method of operating a drilling system."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 06, 2023, under International application No.PCT/NO2023/060085.
