MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517046480 A) filed by Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Tokyo, on May 14, for 'driving assistance device.'
Inventor(s) include Ogahara Atsushi; Nose Tsubasa; Nakagawara Masaki; Sakai Kiyotaka; and Maeda Hiroshi.
The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention performs steering assistance while minimizing discomfort to a rider of a saddled vehicle when the saddled vehicle travels on a curved path. This driving assistance device comprises: a surrounding conditions recognition unit (21) that recognizes surrounding conditions of the saddled vehicle; a travel conditions recognition unit (22) that recognizes travel conditions of the saddled vehicle; and a control unit (23) that, when it has been determined from the surrounding conditions that the saddled vehicle is traveling on a curved path, performs steering assistance control to determine whether a projected travel trajectory of the saddled vehicle as based on the travel conditions will deviate from the own lane of the saddled vehicle as recognized from the surrounding conditions, and if the projected travel trajectory will deviate from the own lane, set a target transit point that is in accordance with the curvature of the curved path in the direction of progression of the saddled vehicle within the own lane, and cause a steering device (42) that is provided to the saddled vehicle to operate on the basis of the target transit point."
