MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541117880 A) filed by Peri Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 27, 2025, for 'dynamic actuated speed breaker system for time-sensitive safety zones.'

Inventor(s) include Akilesh M; Aswith M; Arut Kumaran G; Gokulsasitharan S; Hariharan M; and Gowtham V.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a dynamic speed breaker system designed for school zones and other designated regions requiring speed reduction during specific time intervals. Conventional permanent speed breaker induce superfluous vehicle deceleration, resulting in heightened fuel consumption, diminished performance, and motorist inconvenience during off-peak hours. The current invention presents a dynamic speed breaker that can be activated solely when necessary, such as during school opening and closing hours or other specified time intervals. The system functions by timing control, manual control, or automated actuation mechanisms. Actuation can be accomplished by pneumatic, hydraulic, or motorized systems, depending upon the installation environment. The speed breaker remains retracted or flush with the road surface when not in use, facilitating uninterrupted vehicle passing. This innovation improves road safety during peak hours while reducing unnecessary vehicle deceleration, thus maximizing fuel efficiency and vehicle performance, avoid unnecessary speed reduction and reduce the traffic."
